KINGSTON, Jamaica – All fees charged for sending remittances to Jamaica via JN Money Transfer have been waived for the next four days. This waiver is in effect for all remittances sent from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, St. Vincent and Cayman, and expires on Saturday, August 25, 2007.
The announcement was made Monday, August 20 by Emile Spence, General Manager of JN Money Services (JNMS), a subsidiary of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS).
“We recognize that persons may wish to provide financial help for their family and loved ones in Jamaica to get back on track, and we decided to assist them in doing so by waiving the transfer fees,” he stated.
“While remittances are normally collected at JNBS Branches or JN Money Transfer Agents, some recipients have an advantage because they are holders of JN Money Transfer Cards. This Card enables them to collect remittances from any JNBS or Multi-link ATM islandwide,” Mr. Spence noted.
He pointed out that the convenience will be even more appreciated during this period when disruptions due to the passage of Hurricane Dean have resulted in revised operating hours for several institutions, and stated that “there is also the added benefit of using the Card to make purchases at point of sale merchants.”
According to the JNMS General Manager, “facilitating remittances at no cost is a part of Jamaica National’s contribution to the Hurricane recovery process, and to bring relief to those who are most in need.”
