Jamaica National (JN) Florida Office to Highlight Mortgage Initiatives

LAUDERDALE LAKES – Jamaicans living in the state of Florida will benefit from up-to-date information about mortgage loans and investment opportunities in their homeland through meetings being organised by the Representative Office of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS), in the state.

The mortgage and investment meetings will take place at the Comfort Inn, in West Palm Beach on Tuesday, June 21; and at the Hampton Inn, Altamonte Springs, on Thursday, June 23. Both meetings will start at 6.30 p.m.

The forums are geared to “build awareness about the new products and services” being offered by Jamaica National to its members and other Jamaicans in the Florida Diaspora; as well as, to highlight the dynamics of the changing “rates” in the mortgage market,

“Through these meetings, we hope to sensitise the many Jamaicans who reside in the Florida counties (where Jamaicans are most concentrated) about the competitive mortgage rates available at Jamaica National,” said Janice McIntosh, Chief Representative Officer, at the JNBS Florida office. “At this time, we need to ensure that more Jamaicans are aware of our presence in Florida, as many seek information from our offices in Jamaica, not realising that we can fulfill many of their mortgage needs in our US Representative Office.”

Mrs. McIntosh said that representatives from the National Land Agency (NLA) and participating Developers in the JN Preferred Lender Program, will be in attendance to discuss the housing options that are now available in Jamaica.

Attendees will also be updated about the Joint Financing Programme between Jamaica National and the National Housing Trust (NHT).

“We realise that some Jamaicans who contributed to the National Housing Trust (NHT) are not aware that they can still access their NHT benefits; and, we want to advise them, how accessing NHT funds can assist with their home purchase.

She also emphasized that the JN Florida Representative Office provides a full range of mortgage services; and is prepared to guide members as they progress through the mortgage application, approval and acceptance process.

The Florida meetings will also serve as an opportunity to update more Jamaicans in Florida about the state of the Jamaican economy; the Meet Jamaica in London 2012 promotion; as well as the wide range of investments available through the Society and its subsidiary,

“Jamaica National has led the way in keeping Jamaicans in the Diaspora informed about the development initiatives in their country; and the Society plays an integral role in the up-coming Diaspora Conference, scheduled to take place, in Ocho Rios, June 15-17,” Mrs. McIntosh pointed out,

She said that Jamaica National was proud of the strides that Jamaicans living overseas have made; and commended their support of relatives at home; as well as, their commitment to invest in national development.

As part of a special promotion at the meeting the first 100 guests, at each event, will receive a token, in addition, all registrants will get a chance to win an Irie Jamaican Goody basket.
