Jamaica National International Money Transfer and SuRealty Title Company to sponsor the Bank of America World Youth Netball Championship

The Bank of America World Netball Championship 2005 countdown was officially launched by Broward County Mayor, Kristin Jacobs at the Broward County Governmental Center on Tuesday, May 17th.

Mayor Jacobs expressed how gratifying it was for her to host the countdown event and singled out the untiring efforts of Lauderdale Lakes Commissioner Hazelle Rogers and Albert Tucker, Vice President of Multicultural Business Development, for The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau in making the Championship a reality. She acknowledged that the event would not be possible without the resolute group of committed corporate sponsors.

As an expression of appreciation to the sponsors Mayor Jacobs read and presented Broward County Proclamations to Bank of America as the lead sponsor and the two other corporate sponsors, Jamaica National International Money Transfer and SuRealty Title Company.

Broward County’s President of Bank of America, Mark Mallard indicated how pleased Bank of America was to be associated with the World Youth Netball Championship and emphasized the importance Bank of America places on their community involvement.

Mark also emphasized how Bank of America’s involvement is a way to cement even further binding relationships with the community it serves. Bank of America, “is proud of its employee diversity, we have over One Hundred and Twenty (120) different languages spoken in our Customer Service Department, and the sponsoring of this event helps us to appreciate this diversity in our people even more, as helping to spearhead this championship speaks volumes to bonds we bind with those communities we serve.”

Corporate Sponsor, Jamaica National International Money Transfer was represented by Manager of the Florida Division, Carmen Bartlett. Bartlett congratulated the organizers of what she described as “a historic event” in sports. She lauded them for their tenacity, their determination, their skills of organization and commitment to Netball, which made this occasion possible.

“Jamaica National International Money Transfer is extremely proud to be a partner of this worthwhile achievement” she commented. “The Jamaica National Foundation provides resources to support Netball workshops and training at the secondary and primary school level throughout Jamaica. Because of Jamaica National’s commitment to Netball, and their recognition of the game being a catalyst in uniting the people of varying backgrounds and cultures she was pleased to present a sponsorship check in the amount of $10,000 to Commissioner Hazelle Rogers and Albert Tucker.

Chester Bishop, President of SuRealty Title Company, another corporate sponsor, brought greetings to the group and expressed his pleasure as well in being a sponsor of the games which will be held at the Broward County Convention Center from July 21-July 31, 2005.

Local channel News 10 television reporter, Neki Mohan was in attendance and took the opportunity to relate how deep her roots were in the Caribbean, being born to parents from Trinidad and Tobago, and having had the invigorating experience of living with her Grand-parents and having her early childhood education in the twin island Republic. She mused about her days of playing netball, how the sport exposed her to a wonderful cross-section of young people and it being the women’s answer to basketball.

Ricardo Allicock, Consul General of Jamaica, Carole Hokrein, Secretary of the United States Netball Association and Linda Stepenovitch an executive from Bank of America were also on hand to give support to the countdown to the Bank of America World Youth Netball Championship.
