Jamaica’s Minister of Sports and Entertainment Honors Chris Gayle for His Music Role
ST. ELIZABETH, Jamaica – At a recent exhibition cricket match in St . Elizabeth, Jamaica’s Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sports, Olivia “Babsy” Grange publicly congratulated cricket icon Chris Gayle for his sporting accomplishments as well as the recent success of his Triple Century Records.
The match was between Chris Gayle’s team and Brian Lara’s team at the T20 Festival in Treasure Beach. The match was sold out to a crowd of 5,000 people and took place on January 15th, 2023.
Minister Grange addressed both teams and the audience before the start of the match where she praised Chris Gayle for his iconic status in the sport of cricket, as well as the recent success of his #1 song in India and his headlining Billboard album series.
Chris Gayle hit #1 in India recently with his song with Indian artist Emiway Bantai called “Jamaica to India”. He also led a Billboard album series to #1 on the USA Itunes Reggae Album Chart which featured Lauryn Hill, Morgan Heritage, Capleton, Sizzla, and more. The album Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica The Asian Edition was co-produced by some of Jamaica’s trendsetting producers including, Contractor Music, Camar Flava, Space Age Rasta, and Vertex Productions.
