FLORIDA – Greetings my fellow Jamaican Diasporans!!

It is with immeasurable and unabashed pride that I join you in celebration of this the 53rd Year of the birth of our great nation, Jamaica.

Jamaican Diasporans can celebrate the Independence of our great nation with the knowledge and appreciation that we have all benefited from an unmatched legacy associated with any other country of comparable size and population. Our strength, resilience and world class achievements during these short 53 years are now world renowned and admired. As Diasporans, we now find ourselves in a unique position outside of the shores of the land of our birth and heritage. We have the opportunity and task to organize and be of influence through the length and breadth of this thirteen state region of the Southern United States. We now presently serve in critical and influential roles within our communities as professionals, community and civic leaders and have been successful in casting off negative aspersions which was unfairly associated with us as a people. I assure you that we are well on the way.  I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to all our Diasporans who have remained solidly connected with Jamaica. You have sacrificed your time; efforts and finances to reach back to our county, but most importantly you have not look down on our nation and have given it its due respect. The sharing of your good will, skills, talents and successes has been great a blessing to an already blessed nation who is gifted with nationals who exemplify patriotism.

Over the past year, I have personally experienced and witnessed the tangible impact of the Jamaican Diaspora on Jamaica’s nation building. This includes, but is not limited to the areas of Health, Education, and National Security. The passing of legislation in Jamaica, including the Charities Act and also the establishment of the National Education Trust (NET) and the National Health Fund have all been influenced by the participation and collaboration of the Jamaican Diaspora. As Jamaican Diasporans, it is never too late to claim your endowed and unavoidable birthright. As we celebration the independence of our nation, I urge you to dedicate or rededicate yourselves as positive daily ambassadors for Jamaica and its people. I also offer this standing and open invitation to those Diasporans who wish to collaborate and work with Jamaica’s Central and Local governments, its charitable organization, churches and private institutions. We must continue to utilize the opportunity to be a significant catalyst for the vision of positive growth for Jamaica and its people which was penned by our founding fathers.

As Jamaica continues to move forward in its plans to achieve first world status, let us lock step with our nation and focus positively on the vision of achievable goals which lies within reach. ” Jamaica will never perish under our watch as Diasporans”. Let us celebrate proudly, the birth of our great nation, by not only thought and well wishes, but by deeds.
