It’s a Rae Town Thing

It's a Rae Town Thing

SOUTH FLORIDA – During the mid to late 1980’s, there was an entertainment phenomenon that united uptown “stush” chicks and “think-me-so-cool” guys with the rootsy folks of downtown Kingston. Rae Town, Kingston to be exact, on Sunday evenings.

If you could not report to your co-workers that you went to Rae Town, when you went to work the next Monday morning, then you definitely were not on the positive side of being hip.

Visitors to Jamaica had to party there on a Sunday. The sessions were something else, with good looking women strolling through the streets with the aroma of roasted corns and jerked meats mingling with the aroma of expensive perfumes and the rich beat of Reggae and Ska pulsating every nerve in your body. Yes, yes. Sunday nights at Rae town was the place to be.

Now you can stop the reminiscing. Rae Town has come to South Florida and on Sunday Evenings too.

Recently, Vibez (FM) Radio in association with Knox Entertainment, launched RAE TOWN SUNDAYS. Every Sunday evening the joint is rocking at Brooks and Bailey, located at 17185 Pines Boulevard in Pembroke Pines, just one mile west of the I-75.

The unique event is very reminiscent of Kingston’s Rae Town sessions. There is that atmosphere, with good food and beautiful people. Each Sunday top deejays in South Florida and the world will unleash the best in 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s Reggae, Ska, Soca, Calypso, Disco, Soul and R&B music. Doors open at 9pm and the party goes on until you say when.

RAE TOWN SUNDAYS has followed us here from Jamaica to South Florida, so wherever you live you in South Florida you too can enjoy that vibe.
