Hurricane Earl forces closure of airports in the Caribbean (Antigua and St. Maarten)
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Caribbean Airlines apologises to all its customers for this inconvenience especially during this holiday weekend, but these delays are due to circumstances beyond the airline’s control.
Passengers flying from the Norman Manley Airport in Jamaica to Antigua and St. Maarten are advised that due to Hurricane Earl which is now moving towards the Leeward Islands, the authorities have closed both the V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua, and the Princess Juliana International Airport in St Maarten.
Passengers should note the following:
If you are flying to Antigua, the V.C. Bird International Airport will be closed from 3.45pm on Sunday, August 29, 2010 until an assessment of the situation has been made. Authorities have advised that this assessment will be made at 9:00am on Monday,August 30, 2010. Therefore, BW415 will leave Kingston on August 29, 2010 at 2:05pm and is estimated to arrive in Barbados at 5:40pm. BW 415 will then leave Barbados at 7:40pm and is estimated to arrive at Port of Spain, Trinidad at 8:35pm.
If you are scheduled to fly to St. Maarten on Monday,August 30 2010, please note that your service BW416/417 will not operate to or from St. Maarten as a result of the weather conditions. The following changes to the flight and arrival times will now apply:
1. BW416 will leave Port of Spain on 30 August 2010 at 8:00am and is estimated to arrive in Barbados at 8:50am. BW416 will then depart from Barbados at 9:25am and is scheduled to arrive in Kingston at 11:20am.
2. BW417 will leave Kingston, Jamaica on August 30 at 2:05pm and is scheduled to arrive in Barbados at 5:55pm. BW417 is then scheduled to leave Barbados at 7:50pm and is estimated to arrive in Port of Spain, Trinidad at 8.45pm.
