Housing Opportunities Project for Excellence, Inc. (HOPE) celebrating National Fair Housing Month

Miami – Housing Opportunities Project for Excellence, Inc. (HOPE) is hard at work with outreach activities in celebration of April, National Fair Housing Month. They will host their “Achievement in Integration” Luncheon on Friday, April 30th, 2010, at the Intercontinental West Miami, 2505 NW 87th Avenue, 12 – 2 p.m.

Barbara Jordan, Miami Dade County Commissioner, District 1, will deliver the keynote address highlighting the successes and challenges of the county’s 10-year relocation partnership with HOPE pursuant to the settlement of a landmark discrimination lawsuit, and the actions the county has undertaken to guarantee the fair housing rights of all its residents going forward.

In addition HOPE will honor the original plaintiffs in the Adker litigation, its beneficiaries and others who made significant contributions during the decade.

Free Workshop sessions co-sponsored by Miami-Dade County (9 – 11:30 a.m. and 2:15 – 4:00 p.m.) will provide an overview of the Fair Housing Act and other Civil Rights laws, accessibility requirements and fair housing administrative enforcement.
