Haitian-American to hold fundraising event to kick off mayoral campaign

North Miami – Jean R. Marcellus, former councilman for North Miami from 2009-2013 will be holding a mayoral campaign kick-off and fundraiser on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Moca Café, 738 NE 125th Street North Miami from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

As a police officer and a former councilman of district 3 of North Miami, one of Marcellus’ goals is to bring more job opportunities to the City of North Miami. Marcellus would also like to discuss other campaign goals such as having a satellite office within each district of the city, issues relating to the red light cameras, the improvement of zoning codes and the galvanization of the youth in civic education programs, among other community concerns.

Apart from Marcellus’ supporting family and friends, other well known community leaders will be making an appearance at the event including Mayor Lucie Tondreau, District 108 Representative Daphne Campbell, R.N., Rev. Pastor Gonel Joseph, teacher Carline Paul and more.

There will be free appetizers and refreshments for guests, as well as the availability of free parking. Anyone who is interested in donating to the Marcellus campaign who will not be able to attend the event can make their checks payable to Jean R. Marcellus for Mayor, which are to be mailed to the campaign headquarters at 12787 West Dixie Hwy, North Miami, FL 33161.
