Haitian Activist, Marleine Bastien To Be Honored
MIAMI – Haitian Activist, Marleine Bastien will be honored for her work on social issues and her advocacy for human rights.
Le Roast Group is pleased to announce that Marleine Bastien will be honored at the third quarter of “The Promoting Community Excellence Award” Roasting Style, which will be held Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 6-9 PM at the Little Haiti Cultural Center, located at 212 NE 59th Terrace, Miami, FL 33138.

The genuine care of colleagues & peers in which he/she serves, is the very reason why this recognition is so high in honor.
Haitian Activist, Marleine was highly recommended by her colleagues for this award because of her extensive work within our community.
Marleine Bastien is the Executive Director of Fanm Anyisien Nan Miyami (Haitian Women in Miami). She as devoted herself to the people in turmoil with immigration issues, work as an activist, she represented families, assured that their reunited as necessary, she advocates for “Haitian Family Reunification Parole”.
She also, advocated for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Marleine Bastien, is a Samaritan, a leader, a representative that makes a hero among her people, which makes her the epitome of putting others before self.
Marleine Bastien represents the people and their rights on battling HIV AIDS, she also assisted refugees in need at the Krome Detention Center as a paralegal, representing them and their rights, then later at Jackson Memorial hospital for 13-years, as a social worker. Her work on social issues and her advocacy for human rights have been recognized and acknowledged both nationally and internationally.
Ms. Bastien’s depiction in her work for justice, equality and peace with her advocacy is unyielding, as well as humble. She earned the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Award, Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Public Servant Award, and Ford Foundation National Leadership for a Changing World Award and the NAACP W.E.B. Dubois Award in 2001.
In addition to community leaders and esteem colleagues, well-known Arthur, Edwidge Danticat, Dotie Joseph, of the President Haitian American Lawyers Association, Miami-Dade College TV producer and host, James Pierre, as well as many great performers and prominent members of the community will honor Marleine Bastien on a Roast and a Toast.
