Grand Lucayan, Bahamas Adds to Its Culinary Team

GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND, Bahamas – Grand Lucayan, Bahamas, the award-winning resort offering a classic Bahamian experience just 55 miles off the Florida coast, has named Basil Dean executive chef and Quinton Rolle assistant director of food and beverage.

Charged with overseeing all of Grand Lucayan’s full-service restaurants including Churchill’s and China Beach, Chef Dean hails from Sheraton Cable Beach Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. He brings over 30 years of resort chef experience, a passion for Bahamian cuisine, and an impressive culinary background with positions at major Bahamian resorts including Sandals Emerald Bay Resort & Spa in Exuma, Superclub Breezes Resort in Nassau, One & Only Ocean Club Estates and Golf Resort in Paradise Island, and the Coconut Cove Hotel in Exuma.

Rolle, named assistant director of the food and beverage department, joins Grand Lucayan from Melia Nassau Beach Resort & Casino in Nassau, Bahamas where he was a banquet supervisor. Rolle’s experience also includes management positions at various Bahamian resorts including Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort & Casino in Nassau and the former Radisson at Our Lucaya Resort in Grand Bahama Island.

Adding more excitement to Grand Lucayan’s culinary front, renowned Michelin-Star Chef Gianfranco Chiarini will host an interactive Italian pastry making demonstration at 11 a.m. on March 29 at China Beach, Grand Lucayan’s chic Asian-inspired restaurant.

The demonstration is $25 per person. Local guests can sign up by calling 350-5385 and in-house guests can dial extension 5385.

Thereafter, guests can dine and dance the night away at a Bahamian Beats & BBQ. Held on the resort’s Great Lawn, it will feature Bahamian fare and live performances by Kirkland “KB” Bodie, Dillion “D-Mac” McKenzie, Veronica Bishop, and Wilfred Solomon. The BBQ begins at 7 p.m. followed by the concert at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased by visiting the resort’s Aroma Café or calling 373-1333 .
