Gasoline prices going down in St. Kitts and Nevis

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Motorists in St Kitts and Nevis continue to see a reduction in the cost of unleaded gasoline at the pump.

The implementation of the “Full Pass Through System” has resulted in automatic decreases and increases in fuel prices, depending on international market conditions.

Over the past several months, the Ministry of Finance has been issuing press releases advising the general public of the maximum retail prices for unleaded gas in the twin island Federation. The latest release was issued last Friday.

Delta Service Stations, which saw a high of EC$18.59 per gallon on June 27th has seen a steady decline and on Friday, the Ministry of Finance announced a gallon of gas at Delta pumps was to be sold at EC$13.82, down EC$4.77.

Shell Service Stations which saw a high of EC$16.25 on July 16th has also seen a steady decline and on Friday, the maximum retail price was EC$10.34, a gallon, down EC$5.91.

Texaco Service Stations, which saw a high EC$16.56 on July 22nd has also seen a steady decline and on Friday 15th November, the maximum retail price was EC$12.24 a gallon, down EC$4.32.

According to figures from the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), in the other member countries of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Unit, a gallon of gasoline as of November 10th 2008, was EC$12.92 in Anguilla; EC$13.65 in Antigua and Barbuda; EC$12.01 in Dominica; EC$15.65 in Grenada; EC$11.19 in Montserrat; EC$12.75 in St. Lucia and EC$14.33 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

ECCB figures also indicate that in November 2007, a gallon of gasoline in Anguilla was EC$12.29 compared to EC$12.92 cents in November 2008, up 63 cents; in Antigua and Barbuda it was EC$11.49 in November 2007, compared to EC$13.65 in November 2008, up EC$2.16; in Dominica, a gallon of gasoline was EC$12.25 in November 2007, compared to EC$12.01 in November 2008, down 24 cents; in Grenada, it was EC$12.36 in November 2007 compared to EC$15.65 in November this year, up EC$3.29; in Montserrat, a gallon of gas sold for EC$11.76 in November 2007, compared to EC$11.19, down, 57 cents; in St. Kitts and Nevis, a gallon of gasoline was sold at EC$12.37 in November 2007 compared to EC$12.99, up 62 cents; in St. Lucia, it was EC$9.50 in November 2007, compared to EC$12.75 in November this year and in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a gallon of gasoline sold for EC$11.50 compared to EC$14.33 in November this year, up EC$2.83.
