Barbados seeking closer ties with the Philippines
BARBADOS – Barbados is interested in strengthening relations with the Philippines. Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, Donville Inniss, told this to that country’s special envoy, Ambassador Terestia Barsana, when thy held talks yesterday.
Minister Inniss noted that there were several areas for greater collaboration that would be of mutual benefit, particularly in the area of investment and the financial services sector. With reference to the double taxation agreement between Barbados and China, he said that his government intended to secure similar accords with other Asian countries.
Ambassador Barsana said that her country could share with Barbados its model for entering investment treaties with other countries. The envoy agreed that the two countries could also share best practices in areas such as eco-tourism, the preservation of the environment and disaster management.
During the talks, Ambassador Barsana presented her credentials as the Philippines special envoy to the Caribbean.
