Gambia Roots Homecoming Festival dates announced

GAMBIA – Mr. Momodou C. Joof, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism & Culture shared the recent announcement of the Roots Homecoming Festival 2016 dates, May 6-13, Banjul, Gambia, West Africa with Mr. Tombong Saidy, Roots Committee Member & former Ambassador to Washington D.C. the two gentlemen are graced by Sharon Parris-Chambers, CEO of Let’s Do it in the Caribbean, Promoter of the Roots Festival, in the Ministry office, located in the Quadrangle, Banjul, Gambia on June 17, 2015.

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture invites the African Diaspora and All persons committed to the social and economic development of Africa to come home to The Gambia “where the mystic never ends”.  The Tourism & Culture Ministry promises visitors a warm welcome from ‘the smiling coast,’ where the endless pristine beaches and culture lures them to participate in the 12th edition of the International Roots Festival. The Roots Homecoming Festival will take visitors on a memorable journey into their historical, cultural self, one which will bring a lifetime of memories.

The Jamaica Promotion team to include Mutabaruka, Olimatta Taal, Isis Miller, Sharon Parris-Chambers and Sizzla Kalonji are planning to chart direct airline flight(s) to accommodate Diaspora visitors from the Caribbean, USA and Central & Latin America.

The permanent secretary said that letters are going out to promoters and media around the world. They are planning a blockbuster event and anticipate larger Diaspora groups for 2016.
