Food Network’s The Next Iron Chef Winner Headlines Taste Trinidad and Tobago Culinary Festival

Port of Spain, Trinidad – Taste buds will be tickled and appetites will be aroused at Trinidad and Tobago’s Taste T&T International Culinary Festival. The event, taking place October 29 – 30, 2011, will be headlined by Food Network’s 2010 The Next Iron Chef winner, Jose Garces, and will feature a tasting village that will showcase the best of Trinidad and Tobago’s gourmet cuisine and local delicacies.

From India to the South Pacific and the British Isles to Africa, Trinidad & Tobago has welcomed settlers from around the globe with their epicurean influences in tow. During the festival, culinary aficionados can taste the colorful history that has left a spoonful of Arabic, Spanish, African, Chinese, Polynesian, Thai, East Indian, Cajun, and indigenous Amerindian in the cuisine of Trinidad and Tobago. From “gourmet fusion” to the ever popular “street food,” attendees’ palates are set to be delighted with exquisite worldly flavors and one-of-a-kind dishes such as shark and bake – coined by Travel Channel’s Andrews Zimmern as the “best fish sandwich” he’s ever tasted.

The two-day festival, set against the strikingly diverse backdrop of a lush green mountain range, cosmopolitan skyline and the calm blue waterfront of Port of Spain, will include demonstration kitchen sessions by local, regional and international chefs, cook-off competitions, wine pairing sessions, chef lectures, rum tasting sessions and entertainment.

Chef Jose Garces, master of Latin cuisine

Garces, an award-winning chef, author and restaurateur, will conduct four demonstration tastings, one-hour guest lecture and judge multiple cooking competitions. For more information on Trinidad and Tobago’s Taste T&T International Culinary Festival, visit www.gotrinidadandtobago.com.
