TALLAHASSEE – On Monday, November 17 the Florida Democratic Party announced that on Monday, December 15th, 2008 the Florida electors to the Electoral College will meet to officially cast the Sunshine State’s 27 electoral votes for President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden at the Florida State Capitol in the Senate Chamber at 2:00pm.

“On December 15th, our 27 Electors from across the Sunshine State will meet at the State Capitol to cast Florida’s votes for change. I am both honored and humbled to be part of this group casting our votes for President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden. The journey to turn Florida blue has been long and could not have been accomplished without the help from hundreds of thousands of volunteers, the tireless efforts of our dedicated Party leaders, and President-elect Obama’s recognition of Florida’s importance,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Karen Thurman.

The 2008 Florida Electoral College members include grass roots activists, elected officials, and party leaders, who are representative of the vast diversity of Florida. In fact, this group is the most diverse group of Electors in our state’s history.
