FLORIDA CARIBBEAN STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (FCSA) TO PARTICIPATE IN 2ND ANNUAL MIAMI FOUNDATION GIVE MIAMI DAY
MIAMI – The Florida Caribbean Students Association (FCSA) will join more than 400 other Miami-Dade County nonprofit organizations in participating in the 2nd Annual Miami Foundation Give Miami Day 2013, scheduled for Wednesday, November 20th.
On December 12, 2012 for the inaugural Give Miami Day, almost 5,000 donors gave more than $1.2 million to 300 organizations working to improve our community. The unique, online giving event provides everyone an opportunity to build a better Miami through philanthropy.
During the 24-hour period between midnight November 20 and midnight November 21, individuals may view online profiles of more than 400 nonprofit organizations serving Miami-Dade County, and make a charitable gift at www.givemiamiday.org Donors are able to search organizations based on their work and impact, allowing them to give in support of their interests.
“Give Miami Day will provide an exciting opportunity for Caribbean college students and alumni to harness our collective spirit to support our leadership development, civic engagement, and cultural awareness programs, including our annual Leadership Conference in April 2014 at Miami-Dade College, North Campus, ” said Fabrice Stuart, president of the Florida Caribbean Students Association . “Our goal is to encourage 1,000 Caribbean student families, businesses, or individuals across the world to donate a minimum of $25 each. This historic day of philanthropy will inspire our passion to chart our own destiny.”
With the support of the Miami Foundation, along with matching dollars from the Knight Foundation, Marlins Foundation, Miami Heat Charitable Trust, every donation (via credit card online) between $25 and $10,000 made to FCSA through the Give Miami Day website on November 20th will have a percentage of it matched by The Miami Foundation.
