Fayola Delica, FL State Representative House District 108 Candidate
SOUTH FLORIDA – Fayola Delica is a young woman who was never shy of standing for what she believes. She considers herself a Community Advocate at-large.
She was born in the beautiful City of Miami at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt and Franciane Jean-Juste Delica. She has an older brother, Roossely Delica who is an Electrical Engineer and younger sister, Suzanne Delica, who is also an Electrical Engineer.
Her upbringing was filled with seeing injustice firsthand as she grew up in the 1980s in Miami, but also how one person can make a difference.
One of the most influential people in her life was her uncle the late Father Dr. Gerard Jean-Juste, a Human Rights Activist and Catholic Priest. He was known amongst his loyal supporters as “Jerry.” He was the first ordained Haitian Catholic priest in America.
Uncle Jerry helped her to understand the sacrifice and cost of being a voice as well as fighting for the rights of others. Growing up she was made to promise to aid the Haitian community as well as anyone else who needed an advocate to be able to stand up for them.
Fayola Delica is a Business Owner, Entrepreneur, Award winning International Speaker, Author of 3 books, Business & Life Coach, a Radio Host., Beauty Queen, Community advocate at-large and a Philanthropist. She is Founder/President/CEO of Fayola Delica, LLC, a motivational speaking and life coaching company and Founder/CEO of The 360 Evolution Academy, a holistic etiquette school.
Fayola enjoys working with the youth in various capacities. Fayola’ s passion is impacting her community through advocacy as a Community Leader.
Currently, Fayola serves on the following boards: Community Stakeholder and Leader for My Brother’s Keeper President Barak Obama Initiative; Board member for the University of Miami Alumni Association for the School of Nursing and Health Studies, 2016; Board member for the Youth Opportunity Advisory Board and appointed by the Mayor of North Miami, Dr. Joseph Smith, 2016; and Vice-Chair for Broward County Human Rights Board and appointed by former Broward County Mayor and current Vice-Mayor and Commissioner Mrs. Barbara Sharief;
For the last three years Fayola Delica has enjoyed volunteering for both Junior Achievement (JA) of South Florida as a JA Fellow and an iCon Consultant, and Democracy in the Americas Symposium (DITAS) in spreading awareness of social justice and democracy in the Americas.
In addition, she is very active in her local church.
Fayola Delica is an alumna from the University of Florida (UF) after attending for three years and graduated in 2003 cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science Education (BSHSE) and a minor in Community Health. While at UF, she was very active in a number of campus organizations and activities.
Then, she graduated from the University of Miami (UM) in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN, RN). While at UM, she was very active in the community. Her professional background is in the healthcare industry for over a decade. Her main nursing expertise were in Cardiac and Critical Care.
Fayola just recently completed her Small Business Executive Program Certificate at the Florida State University local campus. In addition, she is a graduating 2016 Fellow of the New Leaders Council in a local chapter.
Fayola Delica’s aspiration is to be the voice for her constituents in House District 108 as she is of the people and for the people.
House District 108 covers Golden Glades, Gladesview, West Little River, Westview, Pinewood, North Miami, Miami Shores, El Portal, Biscayne Park, Liberty City, Liberty Square, Arcola Lakes, and Little Haiti. The district’s boundaries are: northern borderline SR 826, eastern borderline the Atlantic Ocean, southern borderline 36th St/I-195 and western borderline NW 17th Ave. Primary election will take place on August 30, 2016.
