Devin Robinson Returns to Atlanta Radio With Caribbean-American Radio Program “The Crossover”

ATLANTA – Author, activist and economics professor, Devin Robinson will be returning to radio at Love 860 AM in Atlanta.

Robinson will be hosting “The Crossover” from 5pm-7pm EST every Saturday afternoon where he will be providing news coverage and commentary with an emphasis on business and global affairs. The program aims to offer a perspective on current events that represent the shared interests of African American and Caribbean American communities. Robinson says he is ready for both:

“My mission is to close the divide throughout the entire Diaspora. We too often view plights of “Caribbeanites” and black Americans as polar opposites meanwhile we hail from the same land and are at the hand of the same issues,”he said. “Hubert Harrison and Marcus Garvey rose from Caribbean ash to bring major Renaissance to global black cultures.” “I feel called to continue their legacies and I don’t view the Crossover radio show as just another soapbox.” “It will be a catalyst for progressive action.”

Veteran Jamaican activist, journalist and radio host, Jason Walker also joins “The Crossover” to report every week from South Florida on Caribbean happenings in the US and abroad for its fast growing immigrant populations from the region in both markets.

“We’re not only seeing a population shift, but an also an identity shift in Atlanta and other cities because so much of what is called black America today is represented by the children of immigrants from Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America,” Walker said. “It’s clear that they are driving the expanding consumer interests of what is defined by the US Census Bureau as African American.”

Devin is active within both communities. In 2009, he became the first Caribbean American to serve as President of the Atlanta chapter of Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network. Later that year, he lead the first Peace Walk against continuing violent crime in St. Thomas, USVI where he was raised.

Robinson currently teaches economics at Oglethorpe University and is a regular commentator on various radio programs touting entrepreneurship campaigns including a national boycott of non-black owned black beauty supply stores at the onset of furor over the domination of Korean Americans in the black hair care industry.

“Devin has the crossover ability that listeners are looking for,” says producer Bruno Gaston. “The team is confident the program will deliver the unique perspective that will inform and entertain while empowering all who listen to take care of business as he [Devin] would often say.”

“The Crossover” debuts Saturday, June 16th on Love 860 AM 5pm-7pm EST.
