Dates set for 2010 American College Cricket Spring Break Championship in South Florida

LAUDERHILL – American College Cricket has confirmed the 2010 American College Cricket Spring Break Championship will take place on March 17-21, 2010 at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida.

A total of sixteen (16) College/University Clubs will participate in the Championship. The 2009 Champions, Montgomery College (MD), will return to defend the prestigious Shiv Chanderpaul Championship Trophy. Runner up University of South Florida as well as UM, BU and Carnegie Melon Univeristy will also return.

“The 2010 American College Cricket Spring Break Championship will be the premier 20/20 Cricket Tournament in the United States” stated Lloyd Jodah, President of ACC. “We’ve had many College Clubs expressing interest in coming to South Florida during Spring Break to play. Due to the make up of the Tournament, we’ll only be able to accomodate sixteen (16) Clubs” added Jodah.

The preliminary matches will be played at the Cricket fields adjacent to the Stadium. The Semi Finals and the Final will be played at the Stadium which is the only Cricket Stadium in North America. The Semi Finals and the Final will be broadcast live.

“This is a huge undertaking for us” said Nino DiLoreto, V.P. of ACC. “We had five (5) Clubs in 2009. Due to the success of the Inaugural Championship and the tremendous media exposure that the Tournament received, we will stage a 16 Club Championship in 2010. The staff and volunteers that made the 2009 Tournament a success is looking forward to 2010.” stated DiLoreto.
