Celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month At Miami-Dade Public Library

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Public Library System will host two special programs to commemorate the national observation of Caribbean American Heritage Month.

Join Jamaican author Laurice Hunter-Scott, on Thursday, June 11, 6 p.m. at the North Dade Regional Library, 2455 NW 183rd Street, as she shares the experiences of a Jamaican-born woman looking for success. Enjoy music and folktales from the Tallawah Mento Band and the Jamaican Folk Revue.

On Saturday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at the Coral Reef Branch Library, 9211 Coral Reef Drive, see Joebell and America, a film adaptation of a short story by acclaimed Trinidadian-born author and playwright Earl Lovelace. The film is presented in collaboration with the Women’s International Film & Arts Festival. Enjoy the cool sounds of a steel band and tasty Caribbean culinary treats.
