Cecelia Greaves-Smith, Trinidad and Tobago’s New Permanent Secretary

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad – Following the recent appointment of the Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe as the Minister of Tourism, Trinidad and Tobago is welcoming another member to the tourism team with the appointment of Mrs. Cecelia Greaves-Smith as the new Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism.

A former Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development in Trinidad and Tobago, Mrs. Greaves-Smith brings to the Ministry of Tourism over 38 years of experience in the public service during which time she has amassed a wealth of knowledge in various specialties related to public sector administration and management.

Mrs. Greaves-Smith is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Government and Management and a Master of Science Degree in Government and Public Administration. In addition, she has completed the requisite examinations in the pursuit of a Master of Philosophy in Gender and Development.

Formerly a Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.) at the Ministry of Sport, and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Ms. Greaves-Smith also served as Director, Human Resource Services at the Ministry of Sport and the Ministry of Justice as well as Director, Corporate Services at the Ministry of Public Administration.

Speaking on the appointment of Mrs. Greaves-Smith as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Keith Chin, Chief Executive Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company (TDC) said that “we are very pleased and excited to welcome Mrs. Greaves-Smith to the Trinidad and Tobago tourism team. Her vast experience and knowledge will certainly be a valuable asset for the Ministry of Tourism, the TDC and the destination’s tourism sector and we look forward to working closely with Mrs. Greaves-Smith to further develop the local tourism sector and to position Trinidad and Tobago as a destination of choice.”
