Caribbean Tourism Month Message – Hugh Riley
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Message for Caribbean Tourism Month from Hugh Riley, Secretary General & CEO Caribbean Tourism Organization:
This year we decided to showcase our industry and honour our nations by extending the festivities for an entire month. Caribbean Tourism Month will be celebrated throughout November to bring awareness to our region and greater meaning to our theme: One Sea, One Voice, One Caribbean.
Throughout the month with the help of our CTO members – 32 governments and the private sector – we will take the opportunity to heighten the value of tourism and its importance to the region. Various member countries have developed activities to highlight the vibrant culture and rich heritage of the Caribbean and in turn, inspire visitors to explore their islands.
The Caribbean is a year-round destination that annually attracts over 23 million visitors from all across the globe. The region has continued to make great strides in the tourism sector as our countries have kept their commitment to improve the economic, social and cultural development of the Caribbean.
From expanded air service to newly enhanced airports and seaports, to the development of luxury hotels, cruising and yachting facilities, we are enriching the region with unparalleled assets.
Creating unbeatable service, effectively marketing our products, expanding our tourism education and engaging our local and foreign-based communities are goals which our combined efforts will help us to achieve.
As we celebrate Caribbean Tourism Month we encourage you to continue the effort to enhance the profile of the Caribbean. We are undeniably world-renowned for our white-sand beaches and clear blue oceans; our rich history, exciting music and exotic cuisine; each destination with its own unique flavour. By combining our resources we are united as one powerful voice, one sea, one Caribbean.
The CTO wishes to thank you for your participation. Through gracious hospitality and high quality standards, let’s continue to honour the Caribbean brand.
Happy Caribbean Tourism Month!
Hugh Riley
