Caribbean Book & Art Fair takes place at Miramar City Hall

MIRAMAR – In honor of Caribbean- American Heritage Month, the Caribbean American Heritage Foundation Inc. in collaboration with the Broward County Library, Florida African Studies Consortium, Institute for Caribbean Studies, Caribbean Airlines and Munro & Associates Inc. will present the introductory edition of its Caribbean Arts and Book Fair (CABA) on Friday June 20, at 5:30pm and Saturday, June 21 10am at Miramar City Hall, 2300 Civic Center Drive, Miramar.

CABA will kick off its celebration on Friday, June 20 with its Inaugural lecture on The Caribbean and Afro-Latin Migration Experiences at Miramar City Hall from 5:30pm to 9pm. Guest speakers for the evening are Dr. Carlos Moore, Cuba/Brazil and Dr. Monica Jardine, Guyana/USA.

CABA’s theme is Readership and Transitional Citizenship featuring international writers and spoken word artists including Marcia Douglas, Black British/Jamaica, Phillip St. Hill, Barbados, Carole Boyce-Davies, Trinidad & Tobago, Joan Cartwright, Bahamas/USA, Philip Peters, Grenada, Gerard Férère, Haiti and many others will be featured.

CABA will also present a Caribbean Art Exhibition, titled “Caribbeana” featuring art from Haiti, Jamaica and Suriname.

On Saturday, June 21st activities commence at 10am with the Grand Opening of the Miramar City Hall Plaza and ends at 9 pm.
