Caribbean Bar Association South Florida Chapter president to be honored

MIAMI – Pamela M. Gordon, President of the Caribbean Bar Association, South Florida Chapter and the Caribbean Bar Association will be honored at Angel Ultra Lounge 247 23rd Street on Thursday, June 8th. They are being honored by Millennium Movers, Inc. (www.mmovers.com) for their efforts in the community.

There will be live music, an open bar and food from 6pm-7pm. Admission is free. All professionals are invited and encouraged to bring business cards.

Founded in 1994, the Caribbean Bar Association (“CBA”) is based in Miami, Florida, and is a voluntary Bar Association that has over two hundred members from the Caribbean-American community throughout the state of Florida. In 2004, the CBA expanded by forming a Central Florida Chapter in Orlando, to meet the needs of the Caribbean-American community in that area of the state.

In the year 2000, the CBA adopted the promotional tagline of “Informing, Educating, Empowering” that captured its proactive mission to provide and foster more information, education, and empowerment for and on behalf of the need of the Caribbean-American Community in Florida and beyond.

The CBA has embarked on numerous community service activities including but not limited to: conducting various citizenship and voter’s registration drives, fostering a communicative partnership with the local Caribbean Consular Corps, participating in numerous local, statewide and international town hall meetings and establishing a Scholarship Fund through its Annual Banquet in support of the Florida Caribbean Students Association.

Ms. Gordon is a native of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, W.I. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Florida State University and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law.

Ms. Gordon’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, including business torts, contract, corporate, securities fraud and civil forfeiture litigation, as well as all areas of marital and family law. Ms. Gordon is admitted to practice before all state courts in Florida, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

She is a member of the American and Broward County Bar Associations and is the former Vice President of the Caribbean Bar Association. Ms. Gordon served as Treasurer and Mentor-Mentee Chair for Florida Association for Women Lawyers and Co-Chair for the Gender Bias Committee of the Statewide Florida Association for Women Lawyers.

Ms. Gordon currently serves on the Board of Directors for Florida Association for Women Lawyers, is the Secretary for Legal Aid Services of Broward County, the Secretary for Coast-to-Coast Legal Aid of South Florida and Legal Counsel for the Greater Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce.

Every summer Ms. Gordon goes back to the island of Jamaica, to co-host a children’s treat for the local Sunday school children at the church she attended when she was a child. She believes that you can enhance the quality of your life by giving back to your community.
