Commissioner Dale V.C. Holness to Receive “Community Advocate Of The Year” Award

BROWARD COUNTY – Commissioner Dale V.C. Holness will receive the Advocate of the Year Award from the Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes at their 16th Annual Grand Charity Ball on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale, the formal event will begin at 7 p.m.

The Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes chose Commissioner Holness as an honoree this year for his passion and advocacy for various organizations he supports as well as his efforts in relation to   employment development, affordable housing, youth development,  and his support for the Kids and the Power of Work ( KAPOW) organization, to name a few.

Each year since September 1999, the Lauderdale Lakes chapter holds a black tie charity event to raise funds that are distributed in whole to charity organizations, including the Lauderdale Lakes chapter’s scholarship fund, for high school seniors moving on to college.

In addition to honoring Commissioner Holness, the Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes will also honor Cindy Arenberg Seltzer, President/CEO, Children’s Services Council of Broward County, Community Advocate, and Waste Management, Corporate Honoree.

The Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes serves the Lauderdale Lakes community and surrounding areas with food drives, school bag giveaways, scholarships, and other monetary donations.  “I have worked with the Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes for many years, the work they do for the community from providing scholarships for our youth to programs for senior citizens is commendable, and am I honored to be presented with this award,” said Holness.
