Caribbean-American Heritage Month Honors –Jerry Alleyne-Nagee

SOUTH FLORIDA – Trinidadian-born Jerry Alleyne-Nagee, is a retired secondary school English teacher, a career which spanned forty-seven years in three countries, her native Trinidad, London, England and Miami, USA where she taught for 20 years.

Jerry is one of the founders of the Trinidad and Tobago Community at Christ the King Catholic Church, a 24-year old organization that serves not only the church, but the wider Caribbean community.

A former member of the board of the Trinidad and Tobago/USA Chamber of Commerce, she is also a foundation member of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TUTA), and the Caribbean Action Team (CARAT) an organization promoting political awareness among Caribbean nationals in South Florida.

She was the publisher and editor of the Caribbean Contact USA which was published for 14 years in South Florida and she continues to give talks on radio and to produce articles for the print and electronic media.

A graduate of the University of the West Indies, Jerry is the proud mother of three children and four grandchildren.
