CALL TO ACTION FOR Caribbean-Americans

FT. LAUDERDALE – The US Senate is about to vote on an immigration reform and the following four senators NEED to hear from you before May 15, 2006.

These anti-immigrant laws have been proposed which could:

a.lead to forced removal of all undocumented persons

b. criminalize “unlawful presence” in the US. This would automatically turn all undocumented immigrants into criminals who would be subject to imprisonment and deportation

c. expand the definition of smuggling to include routine contacts with undocumented immigrants. If you transport or house a friend and family member who is undocumented, you would be charged for transporting an undocumented person.

This is serious! This is NOT the time for bar room arguments and veranda talk. Now is time for action. Caribbean-Americans can’t afford to just sit back and talk to each other this time. If these laws get passed, we will be affected FOREVER.

In the last few months, there have been more anti-immigrant calls to senators than pro-immigrant calls. For every one caller who supports immigrants, there are 10 callers AGAINST immigrants. Your letter or email can make a difference. After you have made contact with the 4 senators, pass this information onto your friends and family.
