Bahamian-American in Historic Race for Florida’s 18th District in the United States House of Representatives.

SOUTH FLORIDA – Calvin Turnquest a Bahamian-American is in a heated race in Florida’s 18th District for the United States House of Representatives.

Florida’s 18th District Congressional contest promises to be one of the Nation’s most important campaigns in the 2014 Mid-Term elections.

Turnquest, who has high crossover appeal among voters in the district, is a leading candidate for the Republican nomination, and most believe he is the Republican most likely to unseat the Democratic incumbent.

In the 2012 National Elections the 18th Congressional District, a mostly Republican district was one of the most expensive and hotly contested seats in U.S. election history.
President Obama’s 2012 coat tails and a controversial Republican candidate afforded an extremely close win for the current first time Democratic Incumbent.

In the 2014 Mid-Term elections Republicans are geared up to take back this historic seat which they believe should be in the Republican column.
