Bahamas Express launches a new service to the Island of Bimini

MIAMI – Baleària Bahamas Express begins a new fast maritime transport service on February 8, which will link Miami with the Bahamian island of Bimini.

The ferry which will link the two ports, is the fast ferry Maverick which arrived in the United States from Spain on January 1st. This ferry, which sails at a speed of 30 knots, has a capacity for 357 passengers and a length of 39 meters and a beam of 9.5 meters.

The company will begin the route with three crossings a week (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) and plans to increase the frequency of crossings in the higher summer season. Departure from Miami port is at 9.00 a.m. and the return crossing is at 5.00 p.m. Bahamas Express has launched a special offer to travel to Bimini at a price of $49.50 per journey when you buy a return ticket.

This service to the island of Bimini will be inaugurated on the first anniversary of Baleària Bahamas Express’ US-Bahamas service between Fort Lauderdale and Grand Bahama, in which the fast ferry Pinar del Río operates. During this first year the company undertook between three and six weekly services and has transported over 80,000 passengers to The Bahamas.

The president of the Baleària group, Adolfo Utor, expressed his satisfaction at the opening of this new international route, which demonstrates “the company’s commitment to the United States and Bahamas markets”. Utor stated that the company wishes to continue offering “reliable, high quality services which enable us to consolidate our business.”
