Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador joins Oprah at New York Event

NEW YORK – Ambassador Deborah-Mae Lovell of Antigua and Barbuda joined media mogul Oprah Winfrey and other guests at an event to celebrate the thirty-seven year career of Susan Taylor at Essence Magazine as well as to raise funds for a youth oriented organization called National CARES Mentoring Movement, an organization committed to attending to the needs of vulnerable children. This spirit-filled evening was held on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 in New York City.

Ambassador Lovell said that she was delighted to have been invited to participate in the event since the evening provided an ideal opportunity for her to continue her mission to raise the profile of Antigua and Barbuda within the United States, especially among influential Americans.

Similarly, she added that the evening’s emphasis on young people provided an important complement to the work that she had begun at the OAS in which the question of the mentoring of youth formed one component of her six-point plan to advance the youth agenda in the hemisphere.

Other luminaries attending the event included Congressional Representatives and other political and civic leaders as well as entertainers such as Yolanda Adams, Donny McClurkin and actress Sheryl Lee Ralph.
