St. John’s Antigua – In line with the Tourism Minister’s digital marketing strategy for Antigua and Barbuda, a new tourism high definition commercial has been produced and launched, which showcases why ‘the beach is just the beginning’ in Antigua and Barbuda.
The destination commercial was produced locally by Wadadli Film Studios, and takes viewers from the streets of St. John’s to the secluded beaches of Barbuda. It is described as a tasteful mix of authentic island life and the chic offerings of the destination.
Marketing Manager of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Charmaine Spencer describes the scope of the project as, “A virtual visit to Antigua and Barbuda.” She expounded, “The videos offer the viewer a connection to our island and our people. We wanted the creative direction to take focus on the charm and natural personalities of Antiguans and Barbudans, coupled with the exotic landscapes that we’ve become globally famous for.”
The advertisement ends with a brand endorsement by Antiguan International icon and living National Hero Sir. Vivian Richards. Spencer further commented, “The brand endorsement by Sir Viv really solidifies the celebration of our own, and adds great credibility to the destination through his fame and reputation.”
Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. John Maginley maintains that high quality digital marketing should remain a very strategic focus of the destination as more consumers use the web for planning holidays and travel. He explains, “Brochures and magazines are great aides, but Antigua and Barbuda is attempting to maintain its image as technologically savvy in its use of digital marketing media. Projects such as the production of HD quality media goes a long way in assisting in the tourists’ purchasing decision.” The creative production is being followed with creative positioning, utilizing both TV and the web to allow the destination videos to be seen by as many people as possible.
The 30 second Antigua and Barbuda destination commercial will begin airing on the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) starting from Wednesday, March 20th, 2013, and rotated throughout the day on the ‘Caribbean News Line’ segment. The Caribbean Media Corporation has a broadcast reach of approximately 1,785,300 potential households throughout the Caribbean region, in at least 21 countries. CMC also has on-going advertising campaigns with some networks in the US Tri-State area, which directly reach the Caribbean Diaspora.
The 60 second commercial was released with a soft webcast. To see the video, visit the Facebook page of Antigua and Barbuda Tourism or search “Visit Antigua Barbuda” on YouTube or view here, http://www.sflcn.com/multimedia.php?id=AG7-MEG_UYQ
