CORAL SPRINGS – Winners Sports Club, Inc, based in Coral Springs will host its 5th annual one-day netball tournament at the Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs Drive, Coral Springs on Saturday, October 7, 2006 from 8am to 6pm.
Participants from the continental United States, Canada and the Caribbean will be in attendance. Netball teams from Florida include the Tropical Nets, Sparkles, Saints United and Seven Strikers’. Representing New York, will be the Crusaders Sports Club and the Navigators (which is a male team); from Atlanta, there will be the Agape Sports Club. There will be one team from Canada and the Caribbean.
An exhibition game between the youth team ranging in age from 8 to 15 years will be held and a special guest performance by the Polynesian entertainers (fire dancers) “Aloha” to commemorate Winners Sports Club’s 5th anniversary will take place at 12:30pm.
The teams will be vying for various awards including: Best Uniform, Most Disciplined, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places, most Valuable Players and Best Shooters.
The public is invited to come out to see these exciting women’s team sports invented in America 100 years ago played successfully around the world and which is now beginning to re-established in the 21st century in its country of origins.
