An oasis within a retreat, Hotel Kura Hulanda opens up a state of the art spa facility

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao – Hotel Kura Hulanda Spa and Casino, an eight block complex which has been developed into a thriving, historical, state of the art tourism facility – which can now add a modern day, sophisticated spa to its list of amenities.

Already consisting of an 80 room hotel with multiple pools and gardens, the largest museum of slavery artifacts in the Caribbean, three dining options including the award winning Astrolab, boutiques and retail shops, the Hotel Kura Hulanda Spa and Casino has now announced the opening of their spa facility – an oasis within what is already a private and luxurious retreat.

Doors officially opened this June, and the spa is now in full operation, welcoming guests. The spa is an elegant facility, with a serene environment allowing patrons to completely relax and unwind to enjoy any of a number of specialty treatments and packages. There are six treatment rooms, plus the option for outdoor massages along with a sauna and steam room. The treatment rooms are located around a central fitness facility, which offers the latest cardiovascular equipment with “cardio theater” (individual TV’s at each machine) and a fully equipped weight room.

Guests of the spa will also enjoy an outdoor space consisting of a whirlpool, lounge and yoga/aerobics palapa, offering the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, soaking up the sun while relaxing after a decompressing spa treatment. Additionally, there are future plans to build a health food bar offering smoothies and spa cuisine.

Spa offerings include eight different massage options, another eight choices of holistic massage specialties, 11 facial options, including five 90-minute specialty treatments, nine full body treatment choices, plus nail care and hair removal selections.

Kura Hulanda’s spa treatments not only help relax and de-stress, but also have health and cosmetic benefits. For example, the Water-Chi Massage is an acu-pressure meridian massage in the water that helps with severe tension and stress, as well as eases pain, back soreness and joint problems, rheum and arthritis (45 minutes/$125). The Aromatherapy and Eye Contour Facial is a 60-minute treatment to combat the aging process of the eye area and the premature appearance of dark shadows due to tiredness and stress. An in house blend of essential oils and specialized eastern massage movements help to stimulate and oxygenate the skin, while bringing the body and mind into balance ($100). Or, visitors may opt for the full body Reshaping Algae Body Mask, designed with active ingredients to tone and re-mineralize the skin against water retention and circulatory problems ($125). Gentleman’s Total Care facial, Couples Massage and Sunburn Relief Body Wrap are just a few of the other menu choices.

Spa packages are also available, including a 410 minute Bridal Day Spa, which is a full day of pampering including a 4-hands Massage, Detoxifying Body Scrub, Thermal Algae Body Mask, Mini Facial with a Thermal Mask and finally a Spa Pedicure and Manicure.

Perhaps one of the most unique elements of the Kura Hulanda Spa is their Kids & Teen Spa services, a growing trend in spa operations. These 15-30 minute treatments allow mom’s little princess to join her at the spa and experience a “grown-up” day. Options include a 30-minute Well-Being Massage, a Teen Facial, Petite-Toe (pedicure) and the Princess-cure, a manicure for little hands including a princess massage treatment and nail polish application. These spa services are available for kids and teens younger than 15 years old.
