All Miami-Dade county polling places open for voting

MIAMI – As of 7 a.m., all 765 Miami-Dade County precincts have opened and are welcoming voters. After much pre-election preparation and testing, the Elections Department expects a successful Election Day.

326,492 voters have cast ballots during Early Voting and 144,296 have already voted via absentee ballot. That equates to a 38% voter turnout so far.

Early Voting ended on Sunday and absentee ballots will continue to be accepted in person until 7 p.m. today at the Elections Department, 2700 NW 87th Avenue in Doral and at the Voter Information Center in the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st Street in downtown Miami.

Voters who plan to vote in person today should keep in mind these points:

Unlike during Early Voting, when voters can choose any location, on Election Day voters must vote at their assigned polling place listed on their voter information card. Any voter who is unsure of where to vote can check the Elections Department website at www.miamidade.gov/elections or call Miami-Dade’s Answer Center at 3-1-1.

Voting at polling places continues until 7 p.m. today. In the event of lines at polling places, any eligible voter who is in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Voters must provide identification that contains both a photo and signature in order to vote. Acceptable forms of ID include:

– Driver’s license or ID card issued by a Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

– United States passport

– Military or student ID card

– Retirement center or neighborhood association ID card

– Debit/Credit Card

– Public Assistance ID

If the picture identification does not contain a signature, an additional identification with a signature will be required. Voters are also always encouraged to bring their voter information cards issued by the Elections Department to facilitate the process, but the information card is not required in order to vote.

Voters should review the Sample Ballot before going to vote. It was sent to the homes of all registered voters and will also be available in public libraries, County Offices, City Halls, Early Voting locations and Commission Offices.

Voters should remember to look at both sides and all pages of the ballot before casting their ballot.
