Air Jamaica Increases Convenience Of New Web Check-In (WCI) Feature

MIAMI – Passengers flying with Air Jamaica, the World’s Best Airline to the Caribbean, now have the option of checking-in online (www.airjamaica.com)from all gateways system wide and up to 24 hours before departure.

This serves as a significant enhancement over the previous check in window of up to 18 hours before departure, from only four gateways. This new option will expedite the check-in process and enable passengers to reduce the length of time spent checking in at the airport.

The online check-in feature allows passengers with electronic tickets to check-in for their flight, select a seat and print a check-in confirmation – over the internet, from the comfort of their home, hotel or office.

At the airport, passengers who have used this service can proceed to the specially marked Web Check-In counter for the relevant verification, baggage and security checks to be carried out. At this point a boarding pass is issued in exchange for the check-in confirmation.

With this convenience, travelers with bags to be checked can arrive at the airport counter at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure of their flight. International passengers with no checked bags can arrive at the counter at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure and passengers traveling wholly within Jamaica with no checked bags can arrive at the counter at least 45 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

In order to make the check in process smoother, passengers using WCI are required to have the first and last names of all passengers, reservation record locator, passport and any other relevant travel documents in addition to emergency contact information.

The new feature is not available to unaccompanied minors, special service need passengers, standby listings and travel on interline flights, i.e. connections with non Air Jamaica carrier, codeshare flights or groups of 10 or more.

In addition, customers making changes to itineraries or cancellations must contact an Air Jamaica agent via telephone or at the airport.
