Adrienne Arsht Center And Peter London Global Dance Company Present, “Dance/ing Under the Mistletoe”

MIAMI – The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and The Peter London Global Dance Company, Inc. (PLGDC) are proud to present “Dance/ing Under the Mistletoe” at the Arsht Center’s Carnival Studio Theater, December 18-19 at 7:30 p.m. and December 20 at 4 p.m.

Peter London serves as the founder and artistic director of Miami’s premiere multicultural dance troupe and is set to fire up the holiday season with five world premieres of dynamic, luscious and off-the-table contemporary choreography based on the tango by national and international dance stars from Miami.

The choreographers are thrilled to be home for the holidays to share their amazing gifts with family, friends  and the South Florida community they call home.

The program includes: “STEPPE TANGO” by Armando Gonzalez, principal dancer with the Geneva Ballet, Switzerland; “QUE SE ENQUENTRA” by Melissa Fernandez, soloist with Ballet Hispanico based in New York City; “TANGLED NOT” by Jeffrey Lloyd Smith, former Paul Taylor dancer; “ONE  STOLEN KISS” by Gentry Isaiah George, former AILEY II dancer and artistic director of ZEST COLLECTIVE in New York City; and “SANTA BABE” by Peter London.

New works include “LITTLE HOLIDAY GIFTS” performed by PLGDC guest stars Lloyd Knight (principal dancer with Martha Graham Dance Company), Gentry Isaiah George, Justin Rapaport, Melissa Fernandez, and Leon Cobb (recent addition to Martha Graham Dance Company).

Other new works to be presented are “LEAH,” new 2015 repertory by Justin Rapaport set to music by contemporary Israeli composers and “FROSTIES” by an American Jazz great,Dizzy Gillespie.

In addition, PLGDC Artistic Director Peter London presents, by popular demand, a condensed version of his fiery dance drama exploding with duende – the hauntingly beautiful and devastating “CARMEN.”

This spectacular evening of dance will also feature “CALLE FLORIDA,” created by London from his deeply moving remembrances of the culturally rich and passionate life of the Argentinian people he encountered in Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario.

Peter London founded his Company in 2010 to establish a professional haven for promoting South Florida’s most gifted, locally-trained performers. An honors graduate of The Julliard School and former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company and Jose Limon dance company member, Peter serves as a distinguished professor at Miami Dade College and propels his vision forward by mentoring some of the most accomplished stars in the dance world.

“We are committed to the core principle of our mission, which is to provide opportunities for local dancers and choreographers who have not traditionally had the chance to practice their art professionally,” said London.
