Ms. Ralph and Mr. Hughes will be recognised for their leadership in the fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS globally, and Mr. Grant will be honoured for his leadership in increasing business and trade between the Greater Philadelphia region and the Caribbean.

Team Jamaica Bickle created the International Community Service Award in 2004, to recognise those persons and organisations, whose humanitarian and business interests have made a major impact in the international community.

Team Jamaica Bickle is a volunteer corps that provides more than 1,200 hot meals per day, accommodation, ground transportation, and hospitality services, for the 400-plus participating athletes and coaches from Jamaica and the Caribbean, attending the annual Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania.

Olympians Usain Bolt and Veronica Campbell-Brown are among the outstanding athletes, who have benefitted from the group’s support.

“Many of these athletes compete at the Penn Relays in order to win track/academic scholarships to the United States,” noted Team Jamaica Bickle Philadelphia Chairperson, Barbara Wilson. “It’s as if they are running to improve their lives, and they are”.

The award ceremony is free and open to the public, and donations will be accepted to support the group’s work.
