LAPARKAN HAILS WEST INDIES WIN
MIAMI – Laparkan Shipping, the Caribbean-owned premiere freight forwarding and logistics solutions provider in the United States, has hailed the West Indies win of the 2012 T20 cricket World Cup.
West Indies beat Sri Lanka by 36 runs in the final of the World Cup tournament at the R Premadasa Stadium in Sri Lanka on Sunday. It is the first time since 2004 that the West Indies has won an international cricket tournament and its first World Cup win since 1979.
“On behalf of the management and staff of Laparkan and on my own behalf I extend congratulations to the victorious West Indies team on its well deserved win,” said Laparkan Marketing executive Lance Gibbs.
Gibbs, himself a former West Indies player who once held the world record for the highest number of wickets in test cricket, praised the team effort adding “this win augurs well for the future of West Indies cricket. This victory has given West Indians everywhere a reason to be proud and to celebrate and may well mark the beginning of the rise of the West Indies team to its former glory,” Gibbs said.
Gibbs said that over the years Laparkan has supported cricket at the local level in the Caribbean and Caribbean American communities in North America “and this win will certainly inspire more young people to take their cricket seriously.”
“Congratulations to the team from all of us at Laparkan. We wish the West Indies team every success in future series and tournaments,” Gibbs said.
