Youth Ambassadors for Positive Living honor U.S. Ambassador Rood for his support in fighting HIV/AIDS in The Bahamas

BAHAMAS – On Monday, March 19, members of Youth Ambassadors for Positive Living (YAPL) paid a farewell courtesy call on Ambassador John D. Rood at the Embassy.

During his tenure, the Ambassador actively supported the Youth Ambassadors for Positive Living, a group of young Bahamians who foster healthy lifestyles through education on HIV/AIDS and other youth health and sexuality matters.

During the visit, YAPL head Keith Kemp presented Ambassador Rood with a plaque for his ongoing support in the fight against HIV/AIDS in The Bahamas.

In his remarks, the Ambassador observed that education is vital to addressing the problem of HIV/AIDS because global trends show that young persons (and in particular young women) have the highest rates of new infections.

Ambassador Rood commended the members of the organization for their continuing efforts to reach out to Bahamian youth and thanked YAPL for their kind gesture.
