World Indoor Soccer League Announces Open Tryouts For 2006 Inaugural Season; Seeking Representation For Several Caribbean Teams

At an afternoon press conference on Wednesday Sept 7th, The World Indoor Soccer League announced that they will hold open tryouts at the Miami Arena on September 17th and 18th to find the best men’s soccer talent in South Florida to fill over 150 open roster spots for 14-16 national teams.

The World Indoor Soccer League is a new and exciting brand of professional soccer with teams representing various countries from around the world. The WISL will feature the finest talent from all over South Florida competing in a season-long tournament at the Miami Arena starting in June 2006. Players and fans will enjoy a top-caliber sports event designed around the pride of heritage and neighborhood.

Argentina coach Silvano Espindola, Colombian coach Luis Carlos Perea, Peruvian coach Jesus Manuel Peruziga, Honduras coach Jose Enrique Mendoza, Haitian coach Roland Jerome, and other WISL national team coaches to be named, will be on hand to evaluate and select those players who best display the talent, drive and determination required to represent their countries in an exciting competition against other national teams.

Players of all nationalities are open to tryout for teams representing countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Ecuador, Haiti, Jamaica, USA, Argentina, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and more. WISL national teams will be comprised of at least 80% of players of a particular nationality.

Players who earn roster spots will be paid on a per-game/per-season basis and will compete for over $100,000 in prizes, bonus money, and be eligible for league profit sharing. All games will take place on nights and weekends at the Miami Arena and will not require travel.

Players are highly encouraged to pre-register with the WISL at a cost of $35, cash or money order only. Registration costs on the day of tryouts will increase to $45. Registration each day begins at 8am and will end at 1pm. Tryouts will include drills and 10-minute 6-on-6 scrimmages that will begin at approximately at 9am and will end at approximately 8pm. In the event of high numbers of registrants, some players might be requested to come back on Sept. 18th.

Players are requested to enter the Miami Arena through the north entrance and to arrive in indoor soccer attire. It is recommended that players also bring their own lunch and beverages.
