Citizens-logo1-300x300FORT LAUDERDALE — Citizens for Safe and Modern Schools, a coalition of community and business leaders supporting the Broward School bond referendum, announced that four prominent South Florida leaders, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Alcee Hastings , Ted Deutch and Lois Frankel, publicly announced their support for the bond measure on this November 4th ballot. Wasserman Schultz, Hastings, Deutch and Frankel join many other community leaders in support of this critical effort to modernize and ensure safety at Broward schools.

“The outpouring of support from the community has been remarkable,” said Alan Levy, chairman of Citizens for Safe and Modern Schools.

“It doesn’t matter if you are a parent or a concerned citizen, we all understand the value of a good education in a safe environment. This bond will help strengthen our communities, provide good jobs and make sure we are producing the next generation of Broward leaders,” said Wasserman Schultz.

“We have a real opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of Broward children and provide them with safe and modern schools. This bond will help improve our children’s education, getting our schools up to parity, so all children have equal access to technology and a safe learning environment,” said Hastings.

“When we invest in our schools, we invest in our future. Passage of the Broward School Bond will help our schools upgrade technology, renovate facilities, and provide a safer and more enriching learning environment for our children,” said Deutch.

“Our children deserve safe and modern schools” said Frankel.

The Broward school bond referendum is on the November 4th ballot. If passed by voters, the bond offering seeks to raise $800 million, which will cover the district’s most critical capital projects identified through an independent needs assessment of Broward county schools.
