University of the West Indies publications receive international recognition

TRINIDAD – Communications Office, St. Augustine Campus received two international awards for their design and content in an international marketing and communications publications competition held by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

The two winning publications are The UWI Undergraduate Prospectus, which introduces students to campus life, programs and courses, and the ST. Augustine Newsletter (STAN), which is distributed locally, regionally and internationally to UWI students, lecturers, alumni, as well as government officials, diplomats and other UWI stakeholders.

The Prospectus won the Prospectus and Student Recruitment category, while the STAN won the Bulletins and Newsletters category in the competition.

UWI Marketing and Communications Director, Mrs. Dawn-Marie De Four-Gill, said, “We are very proud of this accomplishment, it is just another example of how highly UWI is considered internationally”.

Judges of this event praised the UWI Undergraduate Prospectus for “strong presentation of information and a clear identification of audience goals.” With respect to the STAN, they were keen on its ability to capture its internal audience using effective production values, photography and communication.

Ms. Rhonda Jaipaul and Mrs. Anna Walcott-Hardy of UWI‘s Marketing and Communications Department received the awards for both publications at a Gala Dinner held at the University of Toronto, Canada.

This annual event promotes healthy competition among the universities which belong to the ACU.
The ACU was established in 1913, and serves over 50 member countries by advancing their international co-operation and understanding in higher education.
