University of Technology, Jamaica Hosts International Business Conference
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Local and international academicians, business owners and executives, public sector administrators, technologists, educators and NGO’s will be among the over 300 participants inaugural International Conference on Business and Management to be hosted by the School of Business Administration at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech).
The Conference which is being held under the theme, ‘Transforming Business and Management for Growth and Development,’ will hear presentations from an international line-up of delegates from thirty-three (33) countries including, the USA, UK, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Sweden, China, India, Malaysia and Jamaica.
Prime Minister, the Most Honourable Portia Simpson-Miller will give the keynote address at the Opening Ceremony on Thursday, October 19, at 7.30 p.m.
In making the announcement, Garth Kiddoe, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management at UTech declared that this International Business Conference would not just be another talk shop as structures are already being put in place to develop partnerships and support national capacity building for Jamaica.
One unique feature of this International Business Conference is the Caribbean Single Market Roundtable. Business Executives and policy makers from the Caribbean will address infrastructural issues relating the operationalization of the CSME to meet the projected targets.
Other activities of the Conference will be workshops on the application of the Theory of Constraints, a Cultural Extravaganza, an Awards Banquet at which two outstanding Jamaican business executives will also be honoured for their contribution to nation-building.
Theresa Easy, Principal Lecturer at the School of Business Administration is Conference Chair. She advises that the Conference proceedings will be web cast to Japan, USA and two other Caribbean islands.
