Tropical Storm Gustav claims 10 lives in Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica – As conditions improve following the passage of Tropical Storm Gustav, individuals and families who were housed in public shelters are returning to their normal living arrangements.
As at 10:00pm Saturday August 30, the total number of shelters opened stands at 50, housing 862 persons.
The National Works Agency (NWA) has been able to clear several roadways or while others permit single lane access. Some roads however, remain blocked and as such, are closed to vehicular traffic.
A total of ten (10) fatalities have already been confirmed, the Police is investigating other unconfirmed casualties that have been reported.
