Tourism Policy for T&T
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Cabinet has approved a National Tourism Policy for Trinidad and Tobago which will establish guidelines for further development of the tourism industry, said the islands’ Minister of Tourism Joseph Ross.
The Minister said the next step would be the development of an implementation plan, budgets and strategies in partnership with stakeholders.
Speaking at a consultation on Culture, Creativity and Tourism hosted by the Ministry of Tourism at the Chaguaramas Convention Centre on Trinidad’s western peninsula on September 29, Minister Ross reiterated Government’s support for the industry.
He explained the role of Government in the development of the tourism sector is to help create a positive policy and business environment that best facilitates economic growth and supports well considered projects that will maintain and grow the sector. The Minister, who described approval of a National Tourism Policy for Trinidad and Tobago as “significant” also said Government wished to see the industry grow and sustain itself through difficult times.
