Tobago launches Got to Go Domestic Tourism Drive

Port of Spain, Trinidad – The Tourism Development Company Limited (TDC) came out in full support of Tobago’s domestic tourism drive as the Tobago House of Assembly’s (THA) Division of Tourism and Transportation kicked off its Got to Go Road Show at Trincity Mall on Friday, May 11.

The TDC’s Chief Executive Officer Sandra Perkins, and General Manager Marketing Cornell Buckradee, spent several hours at the Road Show where they met with members of the THA and Tobago’s tourism stakeholders.

The Road Show promotion is aimed at encouraging more locals to vacation in Tobago, and the TDC, which is mandated to develop and market Trinidad and Tobago’s tourism product, has forged a strong working relationship with the THA’s Division of Tourism, to ensure the island benefits from increased numbers of domestic tourists

A major element of the TDC’s domestic marketing thrust is the “Stay to Get Away” campaign which encourages locals to holiday in Tobago. This campaign is run several times each year and is widely credited with helping to sustain hotel occupancy rates in Tobago outside of the traditional winter tourism season.

Among the participants in the Got to Go Road Show are key industry stakeholders such as the Tobago Hotel and Tourism Association (THTA), the Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (THTI), BagoSports, Gulf City Mall, Tobago Tour Operators Association and the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.
