Title favorites hold firm at Burger King Interscholastic Tennis Championship in Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica – Camarsh Crumbie and Sicquena Sinclair won their respective titles at the 14th staging of the Burger King Interscholastic Boys and Girls Singles Championship at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre yesterday in Jamaica.

Crumbie of Versan Educational Services was a cut above the rest in the competition and easily disposed Philip Bond of Hillel Academy 6-1, 6-1 for the Boys 18 Singles title.

Sinclair was equally awesome in beating arch-rival Shantal Blackwood 6-1, 7-5 for the Girls 18 trophy.

Daniel Harris got the better of the unseeded Andrew Bicknell 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 in the Boys 16 final.

Shellita Haughton of Knockalva clinched the Girls 16 title beating Sara Orrett of Wolmer’s Girls 6-0, 6-3.

Michaelann Denton of Immaculate Conception High got the better of Shaddae Findley of Montego Bay High 6-2, 6-3 to win the Girls 14, with Maiz Sinclair of Heinz Simonitch School taking the Boys equivalent beating Luke Therrien of Junior Prep 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.

Roger Lyn of Sts Peter & Paul Prep and Shaeann Kameka of Chetwood Primary won the Boys and Girls 12 titles, beating James Cruz of Morning Star Academy and Shaeda Nickle of Hosanna Prep respectively.

Andrew Bicknell of Hillel Academy and Shellita Haughton of Knockalva Technical were adjudged the most outstanding players in the competition.
