Three Generations: Barbadian Contemporary Art on display at Diaspora Vibe Gallery

Barbados Investment & Development Corporation and Diaspora Vibe Gallery are pleased to present Three Generations: Barbadian Contemporary Art which will focus on the theme of three generations of artists who live and work in Barbados from fantastic to whimsical, abstract to portraits, Barbadian Contemporary art has many faces.

Curated by Rosie Gordon Wallace this exhibition will afford these artists an opportunity to share a diverse group of approximately 10 juried artists of different generations who work with a wide range of materials, processes and ideas.

The exhibition will showcase about forty works in such media as painting sculpture, photography many of them on view for the first time. Among the artists participating in the exhibition are: Bill Grace, Joyce Daniel, Laura Ward, Stanley Graves, Alison Chapman Andrews, Ewan Atkinson, Ras Ishi, Sue Holder, Arlette St Hill and Fielding Babb.

This international exhibition is one of the most highly anticipated collaborations with Barbados Investment Development Corporation and Diaspora Vibe Gallery’s far- ranging program of exhibitions, lectures, film screenings and performances, says Rosie Gordon- Wallace, founder of Diaspora Vibe Gallery. Thanks to Cora Clarke, Stella Hackett and Pearlie Drake this exhibition will bring together some of the most contemporary art, exploring the intellectual, and emotional complexities of the island.

The exhibition reflects our ongoing commitment to providing our community and its visitors with opportunities to engage in international exchanges with the most important contemporary artists and their work.

Diaspora Vibe Gallery programs are supported in part by Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Dade Community Foundation, Home Depot, Union Planters Bank, DACRA Realty, Delancyhill, PA and countless hours from gallery volunteers.

Opening the doors for artists of global renown to exhibit alongside local artists is their goal, as they promote, nurture and cultivate the vision and diverse talent of artists in the Diaspora by providing support and new opportunities to exhibit their works. Diaspora Vibe Gallery works to take the art from the streets to the suites, and to connect art patrons to the exciting contemporary artists of the Diaspora.
