The Haitian League to announce 2nd Annual Haitian Diaspora International Congress and President Bill Clinton’s participation
MIAMI – The Haitian League will announce the participants and crucial topics to be discussed at the 2nd Annual International Conference of the Haitian Diaspora during a press conference on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Moca Café, 738 NE 125 Street, in North Miami.
Among the speakers who will participate at the annual event will be former President Bill Clinton, as well as other leaders in the Haitian community who will discuss assisting Haiti in its development. Joining Dr. Rudolph Moise, Chairman of the Haitian Diaspora Unity Congress at the press conference will be Dr. Bernier Lauredan, The Haitian League Chairman.
The 2nd Annual International Congress of the Haitian Diaspora is being organized by The Haitian League with the cooperation of its chapters and affiliates, and numerous other supporting organizations and agencies.
This will be the first time that representatives of Haitian Diaspora in a number of countries will convene under one roof to find long-term solutions to the major issues that plague Haitians in and out of Haiti.
Last year, Haiti was beset with numerous crises, from a global rise in food prices to four storms that devastated the island, killing hundreds and leaving thousands more homeless.
The International Congress will take place on August 6-9, 2009 in Sunny Isles Beach.
“The Haitian League and I are ecstatic with President Clinton’s participation for this event,” said Dr. Rudolph Moise. “President Clinton is a perfect speaker during this conference as the United Nations’ Special Envoy for Haiti. His experience in working with the island’s government will certainly provide insight for the attendees of this conference in how to best aid Haiti and help the country develop a better standard of living overall.”
